Enjoy it while it lasts — Florida school-zone cameras wake back up in mid-August

2026-07-26 · Beepr

It's late July, school's out, and every school-zone speed camera in Florida is legally asleep. Enforcement under F.S. 316.1896 runs on school days only — no school, no tickets.

That ends in mid-August, and history says the first few weeks back are peak ticket season. Everyone spent ten weeks re-learning to drive 40 past the school, the yellow lights start flashing again, and the $100 notices go out in bulk. In Miami-Dade, school-zone cameras were already writing roughly two out of three of the county's speeding tickets by early 2026.

Do one thing before mid-August

Learn where your zones are while they're still harmless. We keep a free map of every camera-enforced school zone we've verified — Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach — with each school's recorded hours and limits.

Or let the app do the remembering: Beepr beeps before every zone, and it knows the difference between school hours and a Saturday. Phone stays in your pocket.

We're pro-kid, pro-slowing-down, and anti-$100-surprise. These positions are compatible.
