Privacy policy
1. Who we are
Beepr ("Beepr," "we," "us") makes a driver-awareness app that alerts you as you approach known red-light and school-zone speed cameras. Contact: privacy@getbeepr.com.
2. What the app processes — and where
To work, Beepr processes the following entirely on your device:
- Location, speed, and heading (from your device's GPS), including in the background with the app closed or the phone locked, to determine when you're approaching a camera. This data is compared against a camera database stored on your device, used for the alert decision in the moment, and not retained, logged, or transmitted anywhere.
- Your settings (which alerts are on, beep counts, thresholds), stored locally on your device.
- A short list of your most recent beeps (which camera and when — not your route or position), kept on your phone for a day so you can report a wrong beep after you park. It never leaves your device; deleting the app deletes it.
- The camera database (public-knowledge camera locations and posted enforcement hours), which ships inside the app.
"On your device" means exactly that: Beepr has no backend server, and the app makes no network calls that include your location or driving behavior.
3. What we collect
Nothing. Specifically, we do not collect, receive, store, sell, share, or monetize:
- Your location or location history
- Your driving speed or behavior
- Identifiers (name, email, device ID, advertising ID)
- Usage analytics or crash telemetry
The app contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no social-media SDKs. Our App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected," and our Google Play Data safety declaration states that no data is collected or shared.
4. The two narrow exceptions
- If you contact us (support@, data@, privacy@, hello@getbeepr.com), we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to respond, and we don't add you to marketing lists or share it.
- If you make a purchase (if and when the app offers one), the transaction is processed entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details. We may receive anonymized transaction confirmations from Apple/Google to unlock features on your device.
5. Permissions we request, and why
- Location ("Always" / "Allow all the time"): Beepr's sole function is alerting while you drive, with the phone locked and the app closed. Background location is the only way to do this. It is processed as described in Section 2 — on-device, never uploaded.
- Notifications (optional): used only for a local, on-device weekly reminder if you've turned off your highest-risk alert. No push infrastructure exists; nothing is sent from a server.
You can revoke either permission at any time in your device settings; the app explains what stops working.
6. The website
getbeepr.com is a static informational site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and embeds no third-party trackers. Our hosting provider may keep standard, short-lived server logs (IP address, page requested) for security and operations, which we do not use to identify anyone.
7. Data retention and deletion
Because everything lives on your device, deleting the app deletes all data — settings and the local camera database included. There is nothing server-side to request, export, or erase. Support emails are retained only as long as needed to resolve the issue.
8. Your privacy rights (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and similar laws)
Laws like the EU GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights to access, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Because we do not collect personal information, there is nothing for us to produce, delete, sell, or share — these rights are satisfied by design. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information. If you believe we hold anything about you (e.g., a support email), write to privacy@getbeepr.com and we'll handle it promptly.
9. Children
Beepr is a driving app intended for licensed drivers and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect information from children — or, for that matter, from anyone.
10. Security
The most effective security measure is not holding data at all, which is our architecture. Data on your device is protected by your device's own security (passcode, biometrics, encryption).
11. Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Beepr handles data — for example, adding an optional online camera-database update service — we will update this policy, change the effective date above, and describe the change in the app's release notes before it takes effect. Material changes that involve actually collecting data would be opt-in and clearly disclosed in the app.
